reneé zettle-sterling

(b. 1970, Ridgway, PA) received her MFA in Sculpture/Installation in 1997, a MA in Metals/Jewelry in 1998 from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and a BFA in Papermaking/Fibers in 1993 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Zettle-Sterling is an Associate Professor of Art and Design at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI. Her studio practice and research explores the influence of everyday objects in transitioning through the difficult process of grief/mourning and examines how mourning and commemoration is contained within objects and our constructed systems. She has shown her work widely, both nationally and internationally. Additionally, her work has been published in many of the 500 Series published by Lark Books, Metalsmith Magazine, and American Craft magazines. Zettle-Sterling also served as President of the Society of North American Goldsmiths from 2012-2016.  She co-authored, with fellow artist Jen Townsend, an award-winning book titled CAST: Art and Objects Made Using Humanities Most Transformational Process produced by Schiffer Publishing.
